MyWay

Overview:

Currently available maps do not provide personalized information to the users. If a person with a huge luggage wants to go from A to B, the application do not pay attention to the condition of the user which is having luggage and may simply suggest to take a bus. The same example applies for people with reduced mobility or people with a stroller. Moreover, the current applications do not consider weather forecast and may simply suggest a mother carrying s stroller to take a bike to reach her destination.

In MyWay, we provide an application concerning user’s condition and special needs. MyWay application receives data about street conditions, buses, weather, … using crowdsourcing.

Problem:

Currently route finding applications do not care about users special condition and specific needs when suggesting a road. For example google Maps can suggest to a mother with a stroller to take a bus where the buses may not be appropriate for strollers. The same thing happens for people with wheelchair. The map does not show if the bus is wheelchair
friendly or not.

In general, the current applications are not customized for each condition and the suggested solutions by current applications might be misleading. In this project we are going to provide more customized suggestions for the user according to his/her special needs and condition.

In the following schematic the interface of the solution is illustrated.

Inside the app, users can specify their travel conditions (special needs), and MyWay will recommend few optimal solutions with enhanced traffic conditions. For example: MyWay wouldn’t suggest to take a bike, when it’s going to rain sooner.

Users can choose from predefined profiles on the app to specify their conditions, or they can input more detailed information by accepting the usage of some of the personal data.
