Introduction:

The 2 business cases that we faced during the opportunity recognition were soft mobility and parking in Rennes metropole, both were quite connected to each other.

Nowadays the metropole Rennes is facing several issues regarding the 2 cases just mentioned, for example, users with a car find hard to obtain relevant and actual information to find a parking place especially by considering the fact that there are no sufficient places to park and the ones that exists are expensive, and for the issue of the mobility the exist
a huge lack of communication between the urban areas and the city because there is not sufficient connection of public transportation which push people to use their own car instead of public transportation and that for sure creates a lot of disadvantages inside the metropole such as traffic, pollution and no parking lots available.

The objectives of this opportunity recognition are to create a project that will increase accessibility for all users and to improve user experience in their own mobility for making that possible we needed to first to ask us specific questions regarding which is the need that is important to solve, after we all created a brainstorming of possible solutions and during that the advantages and disadvantages were discussed among our team members.

Customer segments and sponsors:

  • Star bus company​, we believe that as the main public transportation company in Rennes, Star has a lot to take from our solution. Besides improving the quality of their  service, they can use the insights and value the most influent users and increase their users.
  • Restaurants, ​ With our app, only converted clients will generate charges to our sponsors, i.e. a local restaurant can advertise coupons for the locals and target a loyal crowd, where even starting businesses can take advantages of a variable cost over profit;
  • Supermarkets, ​ The same way as the restaurants, the supermarkets have the chance of targeting local commuters or people nearby their businesses and insert themselves in this peoples’ routine;
  • Metropole Rennes
  • European Commission, ​ One of the possibilities to have a rocket speed launching is to apply for Horizon 2020;

Value Proposition:

  • Rewards , Our commuters can improve their routine and get prizes based on their collaboration to the community;
  • Promotions, ​ Discount coupons and exclusive discounts from our partner to our users;
  • Productive time, ​ Better public transportation means that people will be more likely to use their commuting time sitting and doing their activities (reading, paying things on their phones and so on);
  • Reducing traffic, Less cars, more busses;
  • Reducing pollution​ , Less cars, less smoke;
  • More time with friends, ​ The social layer will give access to know whether your friends will be on the bus you’re taking or not, you can use this to take the chance and socialize.
  • Encourage people to use public transportation​.
  • Create community, ​ between user of public transportation.

  • Zero waste, ​ We are 100% green company, our marketing is focused on producing as close as possible to zero harm to the environment, therefore, you’ll not see folders, flyers or other printed material on this list;
  • Referral program, ​ Taking advantage of the gamification layer, we will offer to our users extra bonuses as soon as their colleagues become part of our squad;
  • Ads on buses, ​ The city of Rennes has an ads service inside the busses, we will negotiate with Star in order to put our ads there as well.

Key Resources and Costs

  • We are 100% Lean Startup, ​ Our clients pay only converted clients, we will tailor every single capability for the good of our user, they will be tested and once we are sure we are adding value to our users and our sponsors, we will deploy it.
  • Low initial investment (App store, cloud server, first-month ads)​ , In house staff, lean approach, we only need the very basic initial investments;
  • Energetic engineers, ​ We already have the professionals we need to build our MVP and show our value to the market;
  • Open Data sources, ​ We don’t need any rocket science to start our service, everything will be based on already public information which makes us ready to the market.
